Runde Island is known mostly for 2 things. The bird nesting in the cliffs and the Runde Treasure. The island is not big, just 6.2 km2 (2.4 sq mi), the length is 4 km (2.5 mi), and the width is 3.5 km (2.17 mi). The island has been designated an Important Bird Area (IBA) by BirdLife International.[4] The birdlife on Runde is protected by the Goksøyr Mires Nature Reserve, part of the Runde Ramsar Site.
